Convert Tamiya 1/12 Lola MKIII into Roger Penskes MKIIIB '69 Daytona 24Hr winner, sponsored by Sunoco... Kit will be including resin parts, white metal parts, vac formed head light covers, decals, PE detail sheet, alu turned parts.
Were do we stand (
1.
mid march 2012: We received test casted parts (re-done fuel injection, see pictures, you'll understand we're happy now ;-) & test vac formed screen, test clear lenses etc and we gave caster ok to produce.
I will develop 1 extra part that will help fixation of head light screen to body. Should have done this before, but only now that i have vac formed screens in hand, i see the difficulty in installing if this 1 extra part is not available.
I know, it seems i can't round it up ;-))
But you know, i want this to be good as this kit will make or brake my reputation as kit developer. I got this 2nd killer transkit coming too, so i want 1st one to be spot on. You wait & see. Will be spot on...
2. May 05 2012: last part went to caster today. When back, all will be finished.
Summurize:
We are in last straight line to finalize this 1st transkit project. Took/takes longer than anticipated, but this is mainly due to our lack of experience bringing such a hughe project to an end. Ah, and of course, having parts redone because outcome of 1st batch was not satisfying, does not speed up things.
However, it garantees you'll get a decent kit offering historically correct designed decals & fuel injection system, exiting MKIIIB lines beatifully represented in crisp casted resin and some nice little extras that will add to finishing details. Hang in few more weeks, and 'im sure the color of spring will be blue this year ;-))
Off record:
maybe i should try to get an all green spring next year offering a project 218 '67 le Mans racer transkit. Anybody in for an Aston Martin powered Lola wearing whale tail? I thought so...
